1. To process a fine, click on the fine in the patron record.
2. Click on the fine and choose the actions drop down menu on the far right.
When you choose pay. a menu pops up where you can enter how much they are paying and by what method.
For cash: take payment and information desk person can put it in cash box.
For checks: Give to information desk worker to put in safe.
For Venmo: Instruct person to find Eastern_University and put "library in memo ad show you the paid screen. Venmo transactions also get recorded on the clipboard next to the information desk computer.
If you see a fine on a patron's account, make them aware of it. Many times borrowers do not know they have a fine. We encourage patrons to pay the fines as soon as they can. If their fine is over $20 they are not able to check out any more materials.
If a library fine is not paid by the end of the semester, fines will be charged against the student's regular school bill. Overdue notices are sent as soon as material is overdue; failure to receive the notice does not excuse the borrower from responsibility. Overdue materials will eventually be considered lost and full replacement costs will be charged to the patron's account.
Books: The overdue book fine is $0.25 per day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Maximum fines reach $20.00 per item.
Media: Fines for audio visual materials also accrue at $0.25 per day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Maximum fines reach $20.00 per item.
Reserves: Fines for overdue reserve materials are $0.50 per hour, including hours the library is closed. Maximum fine for reserve items is $20.00 per item.
E-Z Borrow books: Fines for unreturned EZ Borrow books are $2.00 per day, with a maximum fine of $80.00 per item payable to Eastern University.
