The purpose of this guide is to assist ebook readers with the process of downloading and using our readily available ebooks. Here are some frequently asked questions relating to our ebooks:
Why are there several types of ways listed to download ebooks?
Our ebooks comes from different databases and resources. Most of our content comes from EBSCO Ebooks. If you are unsure which information to follow, it's recommended to start with this one (or ask a librarian - we're happy to help!)
If the book is available via Proquest or Libby/Overdrive, you will need their respective apps in order to access their content.
Can I view an ebook on my laptop/tablet/phone?
Yes - ebooks can be viewed on almost all digital devices. Some books require you to download an app, so if your device allows you to download apps, you should be good to go!
How long can I check out an ebook?
This will depend on the book because different books are covered by different copyright laws. Fortunately, you can usually find details about how long a book can be checked out or how much of a book can be downloaded on the book's page itself. If you have trouble locating this information, please feel free to reach out to a librarian.
How do I download an ebook that's not from EBSCO, Proquest, or Libby?
Our other databases do not require anything intensive to view or download ebooks, so they do not have a tutorial in this guide. If anything, you may need to download Adobe Digital Editions, and a tutorial can be found under the EBSCO Ebooks tab. If you are still experiencing issues, please reach out to the library and we will be happy to assist you!
