Grant Writing at Eastern University!: Submission Process

Submission Process

Complete the following Proposal Preparation form and return via e-mail. The earlier you start, the better. We recommend that you start this process a minimum of 8-12 weeks prior to the deadline.

After completion, send this form as an attachment to Ingrid Cooper (icooper@eastern.edu) with the following information:

  • Subject line of Email: Grant Proposal request
  • In the body of the email include the following information:
  1. Identify source of funding
  2. How did you hear about this source?
  3. Proposal due date
  4. Primary contact person (Provide your name and contact information along with the professor that is the Eastern University point of contact)

If you would prefer to mail copies of the relevant documents that you have, send to Grants Office.

After receiving your email, we will confirm receipt and set up an appointment for you to meet with the grants administrator. In this meeting, the grant deadlines, grant standards, and tips for editing the written grant will be discussed.

 

The Grants Office will also ensure that the University Database (Raiser’s Edge) is updated with the appropriate information.

If Your Grant is Awarded

The Eastern University Finance Office receives the check and notifies the Grants Office

The Grants Office will:

  • Notify appropriate contacts of the proposal's approval and send a copy of the award letter
  • Send a thank you letter to the foundation
  • Circulate the cost center code, report dates, and responsibilities for program implementation within the departments
  • All information will be recorded in the Grants Department office database.
  • Relevant program staff, the grants office, and finance will agree upon reporting processes and responsibilities.

If Your Grant is Denied

The Grants Office will:

  • Notify appropriate contacts
  • Have the status updated into Raiser's Edge
  • Retain the original letter and send a copy for your records
  • Send a thank you note and will ask for feedback from the foundation
  • Work with you to rework the proposal and/or explore alternate sources of funding
